Laser red looks excellent on the B5 S4.

I stole this picture from the internet.

OEM 6-spokes or GTFO.

But yes the red is nice. I’ve always been partial to light silver, but probably just because I had a friend in high school whose dad bought one brand new in 1998 and OMG did he haul ass when he drove us around in it.

My friend has a silver S4 wagon. It's quick.

It’s easy to forget just how fast these things were back in the late ‘90's. We were still living in era where a Mustang GT made 215 hp, the M3/M5 was a rare niche car, and the RS4 didn’t exist yet. There was nothing else like it on the road. The cops hadn’t caught on to German sedans yet either (I’m sure being silver helped too) so we went fast everywhere.

Even more than the speed, I remember staring at the owners manual in amazement of the cartoon of the curtain airbags deploying. Back then most cars I rode around in didn’t even have a passenger-side front airbag. It was cool to know that as we were being irresponsibly shuttled down the freeway at 120 MPH, at least my 14-year old butt had some chance of survival in the event of a crash.

That car looks good in yellow too. I don’t think it could look bad.
